Volleyball Defeats Iowa Wesleyan in Four, Drops In Three to Greenville

The Westminster women's volleyball team opened up conference play in Greenville, Illinois on Saturday, September 12.  The Westminster Blue Jays defeated Iowa Wesleyan in their first match of the day, 3-1. They turned around and faced Greenville College and lost in a tough three sets. The Blue Jays are now 4-3 on the season and start conference with a 1-1 record.

The Blue Jays won the first set over the Iowa Wesleyan Tigers, 25-12. They lost the second set 25-21, but bounced back to win the next two, 25-15 and 25-14. Sophomore Hannah Marshall led the Blue Jay attack with 19 kills, and sophomore Natalie Corrigan and freshman Nikki Testerman each had eight. Junior Kayla Reeg had 41 assists. Freshman Bridget Ringwald led the defense with 21 digs, while Testerman grabbed 19.

Westminster turned around to play Greenville immediately after. They fell in three sets, 25-15, 25-20 and 27-25. Marshall led the attack again with nine kills. Reeg had 24 assists, and Ringwald had 14 digs.

The Blue Jays are back in action on Tuesday, September 15, at 7:00 p.m. for a conference match-up at Principia College.
