Westminster Women’s Basketball Shines in Home Opener

11/20/24 Fulton, MO - The Westminster women's basketball team hosted their home opener with a dominant 90-35 victory over Barclay College. The Blue Jays delivered a well-rounded performance, with contributions from across the roster and standout efforts from key players.   

Annette Ramirez led the way with a game-high 24 points, adding three steals and two assists to her stellar performance. Lauren Jones was highly efficient, scoring 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc. Avylina Powell-Qualo added 9 points and four rebounds, while Caragan Lockard contributed 8 points and grabbed six boards. Guard Gizelle Carreto facilitated the offense with a team-high four assists and chipped in defensively with three steals. The Blue Jays' depth was on full display as 15 different players contributed to the scoring. 

Westminster's defense set the tone, forcing 37 turnovers, and limiting Barclay to 35 points. The team recorded 17 steals, with Ramirez, Bullock, and Carreto each securing three. The Blue Jays also controlled the glass, highlighted by Aly Bullock's game-high seven rebounds.   

The dominant win underscores Westminster's depth and potential for the season ahead, as the team looks to build on this strong start. Their next matchup is November 26 on the road against Webster. With contributions from all areas of the roster, the Blue Jays are poised for an exciting season.
