11/27/24 Fulton, MO – The Westminster College Blue Jays women's basketball team opened their conference season with an intense battle against Webster University on November 26, falling just short in a 77-73 loss. Despite the outcome, the Blue Jays displayed several standout individual performances.

The game was tightly contested from the start, with both teams trading momentum throughout. Westminster struggled early offensively, but a dominant 30-point third quarter brought them back into contention. The fourth quarter saw the teams going toe-to-toe, with Webster narrowly holding off the Blue Jays in the final minutes.

Annette Ramirez was the driving force for Westminster, scoring a game-high 26 points. She was lethal from long range, hitting six three-pointers and going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. Ramirez also added seven rebounds and a remarkable seven steals, consistently making her presence felt on both ends of the court. Avylina Powell-Qualo was a standout as well, finishing with 19 points on 9-of-14 shooting while pulling down five rebounds. Lauren Jones contributed 9 points, highlighted by clutch free-throw shooting, while Olivia Hixson and Gizelle Carreto combined for 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Westminster will look to regroup and build on the positives as they prepare for their next game against MUW on December 5th. With strong individual efforts and a promising team dynamic, the Blue Jays aim to bounce back quickly and make their mark in conference play.
