12/6/24 Fulton, MO – The Westminster College Blue Jays women's basketball team defeated MUW in a thrilling 96-80 victory at home. The win displayed the Blue Jays' depth and balanced attack, setting the tone for their conference campaign.
Westminster came out firing, putting up an impressive 26 points in the first quarter and maintaining control throughout the game. A strong third quarter, where the Blue Jays scored 29 points, gave them the cushion they needed to fend off a late push from MUW. Lauren Jones led the charge for Westminster with a game-high 21 points, including four three-pointers. Her efficient shooting and ability to find space were key in the team's offensive success. Annette Ramirez was close behind, contributing 20 points, six assists, and two steals while playing an instrumental role in facilitating the offense. Avylina Powell-Qualo added 11 points on an efficient 4-of-6 shooting, while also grabbing three rebounds. Olivia Hixson chipped in 12 points, including three shots from beyond the arc, and led the team defensively with five steals. Aly Bullock anchored the paint with a game-high 12 rebounds, complementing her four points. There were other valuable contributions, with players like Caragan Lockard and Evelyn Valero stepping up.
