12/8/24 Fulton, MO – The Westminster College Blue Jays women's basketball team continued their strong conference play, securing a decisive 96-50 victory over Lyon College on Saturday afternoon. The win improved the Blue Jays to 2-1 in conference play and 4-4 overall, as they demonstrated their offensive firepower and defensive prowess. 

Westminster set the tone early with a dominant first quarter, outscoring Lyon 28-9. The Blue Jays' aggressive defense and efficient shooting helped them maintain control throughout the game. They capped off the performance with a 25-point fourth quarter, showcasing their depth and determination. 

Annette Ramirez delivered an outstanding performance, leading all scorers with 27 points on 10-of-17 shooting, including five three-pointers. She also contributed eight rebounds, eight assists, and a steal, solidifying her role as the team's leader on both ends of the court. Avylina Powell-Qualo earned a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, anchoring the Blue Jays in the paint. Lauren Jones added 14 points, including two three-pointers, and grabbed four rebounds. Caragan Lockard also recorded a double-double, scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. The team's ability to distribute scoring across the roster made them difficult to defend and kept their energy high throughout the game. 

With their second conference win under their belt, Westminster will look to extend their momentum as they prepare for their next matchup. The Blue Jays return to action on Thursday, December 19, when they travel to Illinois Tech for a non-conference game.
