Blue Jays Secure Strong Win Over MUW

1/30/25 Fulton, MO - The Westminster women's basketball team extended their winning streak to eight games with an 80-65 road victory over MUW on Thursday night. Annette Ramirez led the charge with a game-high 32 points, guiding the Blue Jays (10-1) to another dominant performance. 

Westminster set the tone early, erupting for 23 first-quarter points while holding MUW to just nine. The Owls fought back in the second quarter, but the Blue Jays still held a 41-26 halftime lead. MUW made a push in the third quarter, outscoring Westminster 25-19, but the Blue Jays responded with a strong fourth quarter to close out the game comfortably. 

Annette Ramirez was unstoppable, scoring 32 points on 11-of-19 shooting, including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc and a perfect 7-of-7 from the free-throw line. She also grabbed seven rebounds and added two steals. Avylina Powell-Qualo recorded a double-double, finishing with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while also tallying three assists and two steals. Aly Bullock contributed 10 points, six rebounds, and four assists, providing another strong all-around effort. Caragan Lockard added 11 points and five rebounds. 

Westminster will look to keep their momentum rolling as they travel to Arkansas to face Lyon College on Feb. 1st at 1 p.m. in another crucial conference matchup. With their recent surge, the Blue Jays are proving to be a force as the season progresses.
