12/20/24 Fulton, MO – The Westminster College Blue Jays women's basketball team secured a 77-60 win over Illinois Tech on Thursday night, improving their record to 5-4 overall. The Blue Jays showcased their resilience and depth, pulling away in the fourth quarter after a competitive three quarters of play.
The Blue Jays and Scarlet Hawks exchanged momentum in the early stages, with Westminster narrowly leading 25-23 at the end of the first quarter. By halftime, the Blue Jays extended their lead to 39-37, driven by key contributions from their starting lineup and strong rebounding. A dominant fourth-quarter performance sealed the win for Westminster, as they held Illinois Tech to just seven points in the final frame while adding 15 of their own.
Caragan Lockard had a perfect night, scoring 14 points on 6-of-6 shooting while grabbing eight rebounds. Aly Bullock delivered a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, anchoring the Blue Jays on both ends of the court. Annette Ramirez, Lauren Jones, and Olivia Hixson each contributed 11 points, with Jones going a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line and Ramirez adding two assists to her tally. Gizelle Carreto provided a spark with nine points and five rebounds in just 15 minutes.
